Retail Therapy

dreamstime_m_14987060As a young adult, shopping was my therapist- I thought I had unsurmountable problems back then if I only knew what was to come. There is something about a new dress, skirt or a pair of shoes that seem to lighten and ease a mental burden. Maybe it’s the idea of having something new to admire and enjoy in the midst of troubles. Or possibly the slight divergent from life’s problems shopping offers that make it feel so therapeutic.

Several months ago I shared a list of the places I like to shop at with the promise of revealing my favorite store of choice in the future – and that store is Eloquii. I had no knowledge of its existence until a friend of mine told me about the store in January of 2013. The introduction of the store came at a time in my life when I really needed it most. It was during the demise of my marriage and weeks after losing my second son. I had just moved back to Maryland, and I needed a fresh start – and what woman doesn’t like a little retail therapy?

I was returning to work in the D.C. area, and I needed career-wear for this transition. Eloquii provided great looking, well-made clothes that made me feel confident and attractive – something that I had lost. I was able to get great clothes that were appropriate for every role in my life from the comfort of home. I was excited about a store, new to me; that provided plus-size clothing that wasn’t tacky or “moo-moo-ish”.

The Limited started the Eloquii line back in 2011 and decided to close the clothing line in the summer of 2013. Honestly speaking, I was very upset when The Limited decided to close up shop and end the Eloquii brand. I actually wrote an email expressing my heartache about the store’s closing – and I was not the only one. They received so many emails and pleas that the label was relaunched in 2014. I was elated!dreamstime_m_26634130

Eloquii is now an independent company providing trendy and affordable plus-size clothing for the full-figured shopper. I like Eloquii because their clothing line is modern and sophisticated, and their targeted consumer is well defined. The clothes are well-structured and complimentary to the full-figured woman. I am pretty sure the majority of the clothes in my wardrobe have an Eloquii label, and that says a lot – I have quite a collection of clothes.

My journey back to a healthy level of self-confidence didn’t begin and end in one day – it was a process filled with restoration and encouragement from the people who love me, and an actually licensed therapist. Eloquii played an integral part in the return of my self-confidence as well. I found clothes to wear that instigated compliments, which boosted my self-confidence. The more compliments I received -the more pride I took in my appearance and more healing of my self-confidence took place.

Eloquii is my favorite store because they provide clothes I can wear everywhere. Their prices are affordable, and they have great sales regularly. You will find dresses fit for almost every occasion – the only missing dress is a Bridal gown. They have tops for work or play. I don’t even know where to begin with their version of the rebooted suit. And their coats are amazing! The jeans actually fit, and the skirts are stylish and flirty. The pieces that are offered can be mixed and matched to create unique and modern looks to expand your wardrobe. Since I am a shoe lover, I was excited to learn about their recently launched shoe line. I will be checking those out soon, so look for my thoughts on the shoe line soon. I could go on and on. Eloquii is my first stop when I’m in the shopping mood. I suggest you check them out if you haven’t already.

You can find Eloquii clothing online at www.eloquii.com and www.nordstrom.com.

Looking nice does so much for our self-esteem, and it is therapeutic in its own way too. When we know we look good we’re more confident and positive within ourselves. Isn’t that great therapy?

Thank you Eloquii.

I am glad I was introduced to this wonderful store, and I want to introduce “eloquent and soliloquy” to someone else too.

Until the next time, be you and most importantly…love you.

Being uniquely you is being uniquely beautiful.

B.B.
