Foundation, Foundation, Foundation

pink toesThere are quite a few things I am pretty particular about when it comes to my appearance. Seeing hair on my legs or chipped/faded polish on my toes annoys me – I won’t even get into unwanted facial hair.  I take pride in partaking in regular waxing services and pedicures. I love to look down at my feet and see that my toes look cute.  But, what I don’t like – is seeing lumps and bumps on my hips and thighs through my clothing.

Even though it is important to me that I take care of all the things I’ve listed above, this particular post is about controlling those unsightly lumps and bumps or what I like to call my “chocolate cottage cheese”. And I choose to wear foundation to keep those lumps out of sight.

I believe foundation is the basis for a successful outfit. I recognize there are mixed feelings regarding the use of foundation.  I have had conversations with women who are not in favor with wearing a girdle. Some women believe that those of us who wear Spanx and the like, are being deceitful or we are not truly comfortable with the way we are.  I definitely embrace and own the fact that I am abundantly “blessed” in some bodily regions.  However, I don’t like for my “blessings” to gyrate with every step I take…I like to keep them under subjection.

As you’ve already figured out, I am in total agreement with wearing foundation.  A good bra and shapewear to control excess jiggle (if you have it)  is needed.  And as I mentioned before, they aide in the elimination of those visible lumps and bumps when you’re wearing that bodycon dress or that Vince Camuto Ponte-Knit midi skirt (one of my absolute favorite pieces by the way).foundation

Foundation helps us appear neat and confident in our clothing.  I can’t think of anything more attractive than the accessory of confidence.  It is a matter of enhancement.   It is true that some things are nice the way they are…but, ask yourself…could it be better?

I have heard some ladies say foundation is too hot and confining.  I do realize that the traditional girdle can be quite uncomfortable, but it does provide superior hold.  In my opinion, Sara Blakely’s Spanx and Love Your Assets products are the perfect alternative to the traditional girdle. They provide excellent hold without being too confining.

There are a lot of foundation options provided within the Love Your Assets shapewear line. However, my favorite items are the High Waist Mid-Thigh Shaper and the Fabulous Footless High Waist Shaper.  I am also a fan of the Spanx High Power Brief. These items are great under dresses, skirts, and pants. During the cooler months, I like to wear the High-Waist Shaping Pantyhose and the Terrific High-Waist Tights, which are also a part of the Love Your Assets shapewear line.

I like to wear the High Waist Mid-Thigh shaper with my skirts and dresses because it smooths out everything between my bra line and my knees. The material is breathable and it moves with me- it’s not as constricting as the traditional girdle.  (Operative word being as.) I typically wear the Spanx High Power Brief with dress pants.  In addition to providing tummy control, they help improve posture and add a little lift to the ta-tas. Last but not least, the Fabulous Footless High Waist Shaper – I like to wear this under light colored pants and maxi dresses. They offer the feel of pantyhose with the freedom to wiggle your toes. Another bonus is the fact that they are not bulky under your clothing.  As I stated, I like wearing the High Waist Mid-Thigh shaper, but the leg line where the shaper ends can sometimes be visible depending on the fabric of your clothing. Since the Footless shaper is designed like pantyhose, the leg lines of this particular shaper are smoother and less likely to be seen through your clothing.

So, if you are looking for a solution to controlling booty pop-locking and doing away with that visible cottage cheese…consider trying Love Your Assets and Spanx shapers, you may just like it.

They are available for sale at several stores; Nordstrom, Lane Bryant, Amazon, Macy’s, Target, and Spanx stores. Happy foundation shopping!

Until the next time, be you and most importantly…love you.

Being uniquely you is being uniquely beautiful.

B.B.
