The quest for me to write more is underway. I was proud of myself for having multiple posts in the “hopper” ready for the “publish” button until I proofread one of them. Considering I don’t have an editor—yet—it is imperative that I review my work before publication to ensure I haven’t misspelled a word or convoluted the point I was trying to make.
Frankly speaking, during my reread I was so focused on the topic I was explaining that I forgot about checking for errors—I was distracted by the message I was planning to share. My voice and writing style were identifiable—it was obviously my work. It was also another composition focused on self-doubt struggles and woes, which—to my surprise— I found extremely annoying.
At what point am I going to stop beating that dead horse? That animal has been without life for quite some time, but I keep digging it up and poking it. Well, I’m not doing it any more. Needless to say, I’m not posting Is Self-validation the Root of Recognizing Self-worth. It’s time to sing a new song. Instead of soaking in a mental self-doubt cesspool, I’m choosing to bask in the oasis of growth and positive possibilities.
So, to somewhat quote the words of my favorite A Different World character, “Whitley Gilbert,” I’ve relaxed, related, and released myself from that ridiculous cycle of self-doubt I created and I am working on new music to share.
I told y’all I’m learning to love myself.
