What Would B.B. Wear?: Eight of My Favorite Products I Use In My Daily Routine

As some of you may know, the “What Would B.B. Wear?” (WWBBW) posts derived from a conversation I had with a co-worker about three years ago. My colleague was excited about a fuschia blazer she purchased—which was super cute! She told me when she saw it she thought, “what would Towanda wear?” I was flattered by her statement, and I also thought it was a good idea to highlight what I’d wear on the blog, and WWBBW was created!

There have been a few WWBBW posts since its creation, but it occurred to me that I hadn’t shared my favorite body products. I believe there are several components of a confident and polished look. And as I learned in my Lean Six Sigma Green Belt training, everything has a process. So, here are a few of my favorite things I use in my daily routine.

1. Dove Original Beauty Bar

Back in 2019 and early 2020, I was STRUGGLING with breakouts. I tried several products to no avail, including Liquid Neutrogena, which was recommended by a dermatologist when I was pregnant. Then the thought came to me to try Dove.

November 23, 2021

I’ve noticed a significant change in the look and feel of my skin since I switched to Dove; however, it isn’t solely responsible for the improvement. Additionally, I don’t want to send the message that I am discounting Neutrogena products—I’m not, there are two I use daily. When I thought about the why behind my breakouts, I realized there was a common factor in my life when I was pregnant and during 2019 through a portion of 2020—stress. So, now my daily routine includes Dove Beauty Bar and not allowing things to stress me. You can find Dove products at local drugstores or supermarkets. I typically purchase the four-pack from Target for $4.99.

2. Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel

I’m not sure what influenced me to try this product. Could it be because I enjoyed watching Ms. Kerry Washington on Scandal? I admit I was captivated by “Olivia Pope’s” wardrobe—it was pretty fly—but I digress. Whatever the reason is, I like it a lot. It is a complement to the Dove Beauty Bar. It provides great moisture that is easily absorbed. I like the way it makes my skin feel and look—it really gives bounce to my skin. You can order Neutrogena products directly from their website and you can also find them at local drugstores and supermarkets. I usually purchase it from Ulta for $26.49; however, sometimes it is cheaper on Amazon.

3. Jergens Cherry Almond Softening Body Wash

I’ve loved the scent of Jergens Cherry Almond lotion since I was a kid. And although I tried and like a plethora of other products and fragrances, this one stands out to me. The body wash is creamy and lathers well. It leaves my skin feeling soft, smooth, and lighted scented, which is why it is one of my staples. It is available at Amazon for $7.99.

4. Scottish Fine Soaps Au Lait Body Butter

I stumbled upon this lovely product about 20 years ago—wow, that’s crazy! I spotted it during a stroll through Marshall’s and decided to give it a try and I’m glad I did. Even though I love this product, I don’t use it on my entire body—this lotion is specifically for my girls, hooters, knockers, boobs, ta-tas, or “dirty pillows,” whichever you prefer to call breasts. I’m not providing a picture of them, but I will share that it keeps my boobies soft and moisturized even through cold winters. The body butter can be purchased online at scottishfinesoaps.com. It is also available on Amazon for $13.99.

5. Ancient Cosmetics

There are two products I like to use from Ancient Cosmetics. Although the Even Skin Face Cream was designed for the—you know—face, I use it on my feet and legs. It is thick and creamy, which absorbs and moisturizes well. I like it because it combats the dry itchy skin I experience in the winter and it keeps my skin soft and makes it glow year-round.

I also like to use their Tropical Pineapple + Bergamot Oil body butter, which I use on my arms, back, belly, and booty. I know, I use about 50 different lotions! It is thick and creamy too, it also smells delicious! It keeps me smooth and moisturized! All of their products are vegan, handmade, and natural. You can order the body butter for $7.99 and the face cream for $9.49 online at ancientcosmeticz.com.

6. Johnson’s Lavender Oil Gel

I realize I just stated how I use Ancient Cosmetics to keep my legs and feet moisturized, but I have a confession. I am absolutely paranoid about having crusty heels, so I mix Johnson’s Lavender Oil gel with the cream or lotion for added moisture. I like for my skin to glow when I sport my bare legs and this product gives me that extra shine, and it smells nice. It can be found at local drugstores and supermarkets too. You can purchase it from Walmart for $4.32.

7. Lady Anti Monkey Butt Friction Powder

I’m not sure why it’s called anti-monkey butt; however, I do know the powder works! I started using this product a few years ago on my thighs in the summer to keep them dry and to reduce friction. However, I started using it to keep me dry under my breasts and around my bikini line after I experienced skin irritation from using Lume.

Lady Anti-Monkey Butt helps me stay dry and it keeps that musty smell away all day, which can creep up around the bikini area. I love this stuff! It can be purchased at Amazon for $8.47.

8. Black Girl Sunscreen

I learned about Black Girl Sunscreen in 2020 and decided to give it a try. It feels good and absorbs well into my skin. I use it on my face—including my ears—and any part of my body that will be exposed to the sun’s beautiful rays. It also blends nicely with my skin tone and it doesn’t make me look purple like other sunscreen brands I’ve tried. It can be purchased directly from their website for $18.99. I like it and I’ve started using their Make it Matte Sunscreen for the face this week—more to come on that product!

So, these are a few of the products I use daily. Let me know if you decide to give any of them a try—I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Until the next time be you—and more important—love you.

Being uniquely you is being uniquely beautiful.
